Because of your generosity, my students now have new history books, reading comprehension resources, social studies activities, practice materials, and visual displays that make our lessons more engaging and accessible. The History Smashers books have been especially exciting because they give students another way to explore important events and people through high-interest reading, while our social studies labs and other resources allow us to go beyond the textbook and interact with what we are learning.\r\n\r\nThe posters and visual resources are also helping transform our classroom into a space where history is all around us. As we move through our fifth-grade social studies units, students will use these materials to strengthen their reading and comprehension skills, investigate historical events, learn about diverse people and perspectives, and make connections between the past and the world they live in today.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students more ways to read, see, and experience history, just as I hoped when I created this project. I am incredibly grateful that you chose to invest in their learning. These are resources we will return to throughout the year and for many classes to come, helping spark curiosity and reminding my students that history is not just something in a textbook—it is a collection of real people, stories, struggles, and accomplishments that they can learn from and connect with.
