Students are better equip to learn and hold a better mood when they have a small free snack. Sometimes I see a lot of the same students which further strengths rapport and relationships. But it also feels great it help that student who doesn't normally come by, ask if I have a snack. The different options provides variety and something I've found almost everything student can enjoy. Living among low income boundaries means students don't always have a chance to bring an extra snack. Some families are on that middle line of low income but not being able to qualify for free/reduced lunch. The donations that funded this project helps me realize there is still good in today's world and that people still think about the well being of children they've never met. When the group of freshman girls who come say hi to me every other day came after me not having snacks for awhile, they were really ecstatic. It was a surprise to them because I actually took the caddy out of my room once I ran out, so for it to be back, I could tell they were overwhelmed by the many options they had to choose from. Seeing their faces light up and hearing how I am their favorite staff member brings me joy.
