With access to essentials like pencils, markers, scissors, construction paper, and notebooks, students have been able to fully participate in hands-on, creative activities without the limitations that often come with a lack of materials. These supplies have ensured equity in the classroom, allowing every child to engage equally in projects regardless of their personal circumstances. \r\n\r\nLearning has flourished as students use the donated supplies to explore real-world problems, work in teams, and express their understanding through visual and written presentations. For example, after a recent visit to an animal park, students created posters representing their favorite animal in its habitat. The availability of materials allowed them to fully realize their ideas, promoting deeper learning through creativity and problem-solving. These hands-on experiences have supported the development of critical thinking and communication skills, which are key objectives of project-based learning.","fullyFundedDate":1755717788022,"projectUrl":"project/second-grade-scholars/9572901/","projectTitle":"Second Grade Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mize","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2073634_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628817894741","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-mize"},{"teacherId":2073634,"projectId":9243440,"letterContent":"The use of summer bridge workbooks provided a strong academic foundation for students entering second grade. These structured, grade-appropriate resources helped prevent the \"summer slide\"—a common learning loss experienced during extended breaks—by keeping students engaged in daily reading, writing, and math practice.\r\n\r\nMany students arrived more confident and prepared, demonstrating stronger retention of first-grade skills. This allowed for a smoother transition into second-grade content and reduced the time needed for review at the beginning of the year. Students who completed the workbooks were often more focused, showed increased independence in learning tasks, and had improved academic stamina.\r\n\r\nI observed that these students were more familiar with classroom routines and academic expectations, leading to better participation and a positive classroom environment early in the school year.\r\n\r\nIn short, summer bridge workbooks played a vital role in supporting continuous learning, boosting student confidence, and creating a more effective and efficient start to the second-grade curriculum.","fullyFundedDate":1746462294330,"projectUrl":"project/summer-bridge-activities/9243440/","projectTitle":"Summer Bridge Activities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mize","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2073634_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628817894741","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-mize"},{"teacherId":8582568,"projectId":8621613,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the supplies this school year. Our students are enriched in nature studies at a young age to encourage science discoveries. The students are inspired by ideas they create using their imaginations.
