We truly appreciate your support. We had a Human Body Party in our first grade classroom. Students were able to put on a doctor coat, stethoscope, glasses and masks to pretend they were doctors while playing the fun game of Operation!\r\n\r\nStudents wrote about the human body systems we learned about throughout our unit (muscular, skeletal, digestive, circulatory, and nervous), stating something they learned about. Their writing was put together to create a body book they shared with their grown-ups. The models of the human heart and human body were especially helpful. This allowed students to have a visual demonstrating how the systems look and work together in the body. \r\n\r\nAt the beginning of the day, students helped make our healthy snack of the day–noodle and vegetable soup! We learned about the importance of eating healthy foods and nourishing our bodies. The felt food plate was a hands-on way for students to identify nutritious foods to help them grow. \r\n\r\nThe organ apron was a huge hit! Kids were able to place the organs in the correct places, then wear it. It was really fun to see how long the small intestine can really be! Students were able to play with the magnetic doll showing the different body systems, too. The visual, hands-on materials allowed students to really immerse themselves in the content we had been learning. \r\n\r\nYour impact provided students an engaging opportunity to learn more about the fascinating human body. Perhaps one day, some of my students will become doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.","fullyFundedDate":1743104193310,"projectUrl":"project/paging-future-doctors/9098836/","projectTitle":"Paging Future Doctors!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wellsandt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9786356_orig.png?crop=679,679,x0,y81&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738896012624","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9786356"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35418","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":193,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":79.2,"schoolId":35418,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ritzville Grade School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ritzville Grade School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/ritzville-school-district-160/ritzville-grade-school/35418"}
