Although they are only about 10% of the school, they read roughly three times as many books as their peers and eagerly grab any new graphic novel or series. They actively promote and share books among themselves: they have checked out about two-thirds of the new books, and most of those have been checked out at least twice. Their enthusiasm is spreading interest across the classroom.\r\n\r\nReading in our school is active and social. The new books live in the library and students routinely share them with one another. Just today two students asked me to transfer a copy from one account to another so a classmate could read it next. Other students are placing holds so they can read a book as soon as they finish their current selection. This excitement shows that these texts are meeting students' interests and helping build a culture of reading.\r\n\r\nImportantly, the characters in these books reflect the identities of our students. One staff member, seeing the display of the new books, remembered that when she was in school few library covers featured people who looked like her. She said she wished she had had access to books like these. Thank you so much for making these books available to my students.","fullyFundedDate":1769967530478,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-super-readers/10069459/","projectTitle":"Supporting Super Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10422088"},{"teacherId":9219061,"projectId":9722043,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your assistance in funding this important project! \r\n\r\nI created a Google Form, so that students can notify me discreetly when they are in need of something. Students are aware that I have additional hygiene products (feminine products, shower wipes, women's deodorant, men's deodorant, and lip balm) for their convenience. \r\n\r\nSince receiving the products for this project, a great number of students have utilized these resources. They are very appreciative and grateful when they receive whatever they need. \r\n\r\nIt is so helpful that we were able to restock all of these products for our students. Thank you again.
