They love rolling, pressing, and creating with the dough, and what looks like simple play is actually helping them build hand strength, coordination, and independence.\r\n\r\nWe are also using the sorting materials, peg boards, sensory tools, and building activities to work on fine motor skills, early math concepts, problem solving, communication, and regulation. It has been wonderful to watch my students stay engaged longer, try new things, and become more confident as they figure out how to use the materials on their own.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to be part of our daily centers and play-based learning throughout the year. My students are using these materials to strengthen their hands, practice grasping and controlling tools, make choices, follow directions, and express themselves creatively. I have loved watching their confidence grow as they discover things they can do more independently. The play dough and sensory materials have also become wonderful tools for helping students stay engaged and regulated while they learn.\r\n\r\nThese supplies will continue to be used throughout our school year during art activities, sensory play, fine-motor centers, and classroom projects. We are currently using it in our reading area, where it has helped us create a cozy and inviting space for our students. Paired with our calming hex lights and bubble tube, it has quickly become an area that our students enjoy spending time in throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe rug gives our 3- and 4-year-olds a soft, comfortable place to look at books, listen to stories, take a quiet break, or simply sit and watch the calming lights and bubbles when they need a moment to reset. It also gives the area a clear boundary, which is especially helpful for our young learners as they learn classroom routines and how to independently use different spaces in our room.\r\n\r\nWe love that this area can serve more than one purpose. It encourages an early love of books and reading while also providing a peaceful place where students can slow down and regulate their bodies and emotions. The kids have absolutely loved exploring their new materials. The bubble fish tank has quickly become a favorite. They love watching the fish float and move through the bubbles. They are also fascinated by the hexagon lights and love tapping them to change the lights. The emotion gel sensory friends have been another favorite and give us a fun, hands-on way to talk about different feelings and emotions.\r\n\r\nThese materials have helped us create a space where our students can take a break, calm their bodies, and work through big feelings. At just 3 and 4 years old, they are still learning how to recognize their emotions and what they can do when they feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or overstimulated. We are working on using these sensory tools along with simple calming strategies so that, over time, our students can begin recognizing what their bodies need and independently choose a strategy that helps them feel ready to return to learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this special space possible for our little learners.
