They unpacked each one, and were so excited to see the choices they will have on the next indoor recess! They loved the baby wipes , putting them in the fridge to refresh after a hot day is my trick! Even the tissues were a hit since we only had 2 boxes to start the year. \r\nWe have started an indoor recess shelf and have used the materials already a few times. It's amazing how a simple game of tic tac toe , or a build your own structure toy can lift their spirits when they can't go outside. Every student has a job that helps keep our classroom community working. The two favorites and most applied for positions were pencil sharpeners and using the non electric sweeper for the rug. The small brooms and dustpans were also a hit. Parents are always amazed at how their students want to clean up at school 😊Every student got to request their top three jobs every month and by the end of the year they had all had turns with every job. It's amazing how they have grown in leadership. We started some seeds inside in small greenhouse bags, then moved those to cups with soil, then students planted them in our garden beds on campus. We weeded and cared for our plants all year, not just spring planting season. We were even able to do a pine tree experiment to go with one of our reading stories. Two classes used our garden kits already and we hope for all to use in the future. Because our timing was a little late we did not get to use in an economics/money unit but hope to next year. Thank you again for your generosity. It is such a wonder filled experience for our students who don't typically get to put their hands in soil and touch bugs. Introducing them to the ecosystem is so much fun. It has made such a difference in our classroom to be able to have math toolkits set up before each math lesson. I am able to prepare our bags based on what standard will be coming up so that students have everything they need such as math manipulatives, base ten blocks, money, learning mats, dry erase board and markers, and more at their fingertips. My students get so excited for math when they get to use their toolkits and they learn responsibility by keeping the correct items in their toolkits. We have extra time to have fun learning and students develop their skills.
