For many of my scholars, sitting down to a physical board game is an entirely new experience. They are used to interacting with avatars; I want them to learn to interact with each other.\r\n\r\nPost-pandemic, we have seen a significant need to explicitly teach social cues, conflict resolution, and collaborative play. Board games are the perfect laboratory for these skills. When students play Monopoly or The Game of Life, they aren't just moving plastic pieces around a board; they are:\r\n\r\nPracticing Financial Literacy: Calculating taxes, managing bank accounts, and making strategic investments.\r\n\r\nBuilding Social Stamina: Learning to take turns, negotiate trades, and handle \"setbacks\" (like landing on Boardwalk with a hotel!) in a safe environment.\r\n\r\nStrengthening Community: Communicating face-to-face, reading body language, and building friendships that aren't mediated by an algorithm.\r\n\r\nBy bringing these classic games into our space, we are giving students the tools to navigate the \"real world\" while having the time of their lives.
