It helps them understand when a learning activity is about to end and when it's time to transition into social group play. This has been especially helpful for students who use visuals to communicate. Some students excitedly told me, \"Teacher, teacher, our classroom traffic light looks like the road traffic lights!\" They were so proud when I nodded in agreement.\r\n\r\nThe Spinning Wheel has quickly become one of our most versatile and loved tools. We use it daily for academic games such as spinning for random numbers, CVC words, irregular words, and alphabet practice. Each activity involves reading and writing, making learning both fun and meaningful. On Fridays, we have a special ritual where we spin the wheel with three students' names to win small prizes. This has added so much joy, motivation, and excitement while encouraging collaboration and positive behavior.\r\n\r\nOur dry-erase markers are essential for daily spelling, writing, and number practice. The children are eager to write more letters, words, and numbers without frustration. Their confidence and penmanship have improved greatly. These little ones are truly creative, curious, and confident learners.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the children asked me, \"Teacher, did you buy all of these things?\" They were so excited to help open the boxes. I explained the DonorsChoose project and how generous donors across the United States made this possible. When I told them that the amazing donors were The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, they joyfully repeated the name and said, \"Wow! The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation!\" They were absolutely overjoyed.\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a positive difference in my students' lives by supporting our project. Because of you, our space has been transformed into a welcoming, engaging environment that supports both learning and regulation for our students.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new rainbow area rug daily during small-group and circle-based speech activities. It provides a clear, inviting space for students to sit together while practicing turn-taking, listening, and expressive language skills. The wobbly stools have been especially impactful for students who need movement to stay focused—many are now able to attend longer and participate more actively during sessions. The colorful speech therapy posters are displayed on our walls and are regularly referenced during lessons to support vocabulary, sentence structure, articulation cues, and self-monitoring strategies.\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stood out was during a small-group session when a student who often struggles to stay seated was able to remain engaged for the entire activity while using a wobbly stool. He proudly raised his hand to share answers. It was a wonderful example of how the right environment can support communication success.\r\n\r\nWhen students first walked into the room and saw the new materials, they were visibly excited. Several commented on the bright rug and asked if they could sit on the stools right away. The space immediately felt more comfortable and fun, and students were eager to participate in therapy activities.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue using these materials to support ongoing speech and language goals, including improving expressive language, articulation, and social communication skills. The rug and seating will support collaborative group lessons, while the posters will help students independently apply strategies and vocabulary across sessions.
