They felt comfortable coming into the Counseling office at any particular time in the day. Students were interested in reading the poster and describing how each term meant something to them. \r\n\r\nThe next steps for a future project are for students to reflect on their lives and work towards setting high goals for themselves. I would like to form discussion groups and activities to help guide students. I am thankful to be able to provide these resources for my students. Every morning, my students gather together to greet each other, review our schedule, and talk about how we're feeling. The easel has become the heart of our classroom—our shared space for communication, visuals, and emotional check-ins. It helps my students, many of whom are nonverbal or use AAC devices, stay engaged and follow along visually as we move through our routine.\r\n\r\nMy students were immediately drawn to the colorful Little Spot characters, pointing to and labeling emotions like happy, sad, and frustrated. We use these stories daily to practice identifying feelings and connecting them to real-life experiences. It's been incredible to watch my students grow in emotional awareness and empathy, and to see them begin using new vocabulary to express themselves.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom feels even more like a community. The new resources have helped my students build confidence, routine, and emotional understanding. Since September, I have been able to make word walls, using slant boards for different exercises and lesson lessons, and so much more. In our calming area, the mats have made a true difference in making sure our children are protected from hard surfaces. \r\n\r\nThe function of my self-contained classroom has improved significantly with the help of the materials from this project.
