Just yesterday, we used the Banana Grams for a \"Comfortable Word Builders\" project. Each scholar grabbed their new cushion, found a cozy spot on the floor, and worked in small teams to spell out this week's vocabulary words. To celebrate a job well done, we handed out the Rice Krispy treats as a \"snap, crackle, pop\" reward for the team that built the most words. Meanwhile, the cleaning materials turned our post-activity tidy-up into a quick, five-minute \"community clean\" where everyone wipes down their station. It felt less like a chore and more like taking pride in our shared, comfortable home.\r\n\r\nWhen the scholars first saw the materials, their eyes lit up. It was a wonderful reward for their hard work. The cleaning supplies are already in-use. You gave them dignity and ownership, not just stuff. As next steps, we'll use the Banana Grams almost daily to build compound words and later create a \"Word Wall of Comfort\" where scholars write sentences about what makes a space feel safe. We'll also maintain a \"Cushion Captain\" job each week, taking turns keeping our cushions and classroom clean with those new wipes and sprays. You gave us tools, but you really gave us a system for comfort, collaboration, and pride.","fullyFundedDate":1777482028357,"projectUrl":"project/a-comfy-clean-classroom-for-focused-lea/10021113/","projectTitle":"A Comfy, Clean Classroom for Focused Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Costa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9577049_orig.jpg?crop=1179,1179,x0,y656&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719444437663","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9577049"},{"teacherId":7203710,"projectId":10045507,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to my classroom. When I unveiled the clock, the inclusive bandaids, and the new learning game, my students' faces lit up with a sense of tangible excitement. The biggest and most immediate reaction was to the bandaits. One of my scholars held one up to their own skin and exclaimed, \"It looks like me!\" That simple moment of validation was profound, fostering an immediate sense of belonging and visibility in our classroom. They were not just \"bandaids\"; they were a recognition of their identities, and they have been a cherished resource for every tiny scrape and \"ouchie\" ever since, each one a small but meaningful affirmation.\r\n\r\nWe have already been able to seamlessly integrate all the resources into our daily routine. The clock is a constant helper during our lessons. The true superstar, however, has been the new learning game. The level of engagement is through the roof! It has turned skill practice into a highly anticipated event, and I am consistently met with eager questions like, \"Are we playing the game today?\" or \"Can we please play it again?\" It's a joy to see them so enthusiastic about practicing their skills, often without even realizing how much they are learning because they are having so much fun.","fullyFundedDate":1747844340248,"projectUrl":"project/learning-and-necessities/9350685/","projectTitle":"Learning and Necessities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Costa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9577049_orig.jpg?crop=1179,1179,x0,y656&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719444437663","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9577049"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_123728","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":421,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":78,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.3,"schoolId":123728,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Reach Academy Charter School - Elementary on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Reach Academy Charter School - Elementary","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-state-department-education/reach-academy-charter-school/123728"}
