They could not wait to start building, creating, and exploring. The STEM building materials quickly became some of the most popular choices during our morning soft start and learning centers. One of my favorite moments was watching students work together to build different creations. They were sharing materials, explaining their ideas, problem-solving when something did not work, and using their fine motor skills without even realizing how much they were learning.\r\n\r\nWe have also been using the new literacy, math, sensory, and social-emotional resources throughout our day. The hands-on materials have given students another way to practice important kindergarten skills while keeping them excited and engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue incorporating these resources into our classroom centers and connect them to the skills and topics we are learning. As the year continues, students will be challenged to plan their creations, work collaboratively, solve problems, and explain their thinking.
