We received a large donation of clothes that we are practicing upcycling with. The sewing machines & thread have been an invaluable part of this process. I have a student who is learning how to use a sewing machine for the very first time. She has been so passionate about creating a purse from a pair of denim jeans & it is turning out so well! \r\n\r\nThis group is made up of students across multiple grade levels in 8th grade through high school. Watching them bond over sewing and their passion for creating has been so beautiful to see, so thank you for being a part of this process. These light boards are a game changer for my student's confidence and willingness to try. We use these boards for several things, such as tracing the contours of a photo before we start working on value shading (that's what's going on the pictures). I know I am a bit late in getting this out, but this lets me give you a more complete report of the materials' usage in the art room. My students LOVE being able to use the skin tone colored pencils and markers for their drawings. It is very empowering when you can represent yourself accurately, and conversely, so disheartening when you feel unseen or left out. It's hard to describe the impact the colored pencils have had in my classroom because they are used so much I can hardly narrow it down to talk about. One of my students used the pencils for an artwork that earned the highest rating in a state art contest!
