We have just started using the paint with water boards in class during our mindfulness time and the students are loving them. I noticed a calmer and more focused group during these activities compared to other mindfulness times.\r\n\r\nThe first time I brought them out the students were a bit confused about painting with just water but once they got started they definitely got into the idea of the impermanence of the art. I think that allowed some of them to take a risk and try it, knowing it would disappear meant that it didn't have to be perfect.\r\n\r\nI am already thinking of using them during academic times to help the brainstorming process. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1754952423903,"projectUrl":"project/zen-and-the-art-of/9303514/","projectTitle":"Zen and the Art of...","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yarbrough","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3105163_orig.jpg?crop=1502,1502,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723668108597","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3105163"},{"teacherId":3105163,"projectId":8657375,"letterContent":"Your donation has truly helped brighten up our classroom. We occupy a former computer lab and have a lot of open empty space with few windows to provide natural lighting. Our class needed a calming natural space that brings the living world in. OUr new terrarium, mini aquaponics and vases do just that.\r\n\r\nWe have begun daily and weekly jobs to water and prune the plants. Students take pride in how well the plants are doing and enjoy watching them change and grow. The next step will be to populate the terrarium with a variety of invertebrates to complete our little ecosystem. Students have begun researching appropriate specimens.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have also taken on the responsibility of gathering various cuttings from around campus to display on the vases. They have found some that have sent out roots. There are plans in the works to propagate these. Overall these donations have been wonderful for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1727373201542,"projectUrl":"project/let-is-grow-let-it-grow-let-it-grow/8657375/","projectTitle":"Let Is Grow, Let It Grow, Let It Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yarbrough","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3105163_orig.jpg?crop=1502,1502,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723668108597","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3105163"},{"teacherId":3131967,"projectId":8614363,"letterContent":"On behalf of our El Camino Community, I extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support of our project. Your generosity has profoundly impacted our students, who are on their journey to recover credits and earn their high school diplomas despite facing significant challenges.\r\n\r\nThanks to your contribution, we were able to provide our students with copies of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika Sánchez, a National Book Award finalist. This culturally relevant book has become a cornerstone of our curriculum, engaging students in powerful conversations about identity, family, and resilience.\r\n\r\nThe book has made a remarkable difference in our classroom. For example, one of my students, a young woman who rarely participated in discussions, lit up during our unit on this novel. She shared how much she related to the protagonist's struggles with balancing family expectations and her dreams. It was a breakthrough moment—one where she not only connected with literature for the first time but also felt seen and understood in a way that school had never provided for her before. Moments like these are a direct result of your support.\r\n\r\nYour donation has enabled us to create a learning environment where every student feels that their story matters. By helping us incorporate books that reflect our students' experiences, you've validated their voices and encouraged them to see themselves as readers and learners.\r\n\r\nWe sincerely thank you for believing in our students and their potential. Your generosity has not only provided books but also opened doors to deeper engagement, critical thinking, and self-reflection for students who often feel overlooked in traditional academic settings.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude and warm regards,","fullyFundedDate":1728009144245,"projectUrl":"project/every-reader-deserves-to-see-themselves/8614363/","projectTitle":"Every Reader Deserves to See Themselves in a Book","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tranfaglia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3131967_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1670088209220","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3131967"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5230","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1674,"numTeachers":70,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":50,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"23.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.0,"schoolId":5230,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rancho Cotate High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rancho Cotate High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/cotati-rohnert-park-unified-school-district/rancho-cotate-high-school/5230"}
