For students with autism spectrum disorder, toys that teach mathematical skills, counting, sorting, learning patterns, problem-solving techniques, and language skills are ideal. Moreover, they are oftentimes tactile and sensory, which is very helpful since most of my students are having a hard time doing paper and pencil tasks. "Nuts about counting" will be a good resource to target students' Math goal to "identify and route count numbers". They also need materials that will develop their self-help or pre-vocational skills. I am now in the process of creating personalized task boxes based on their needs but I am needing materials to complete all of them such as plastic storage bins, laminating sheets, velcro dots, laminating machine, empty containers, hair rollers and hygiene kit. These different types of materials offer a different benefit and opportunity for learning and personal growth.
