Most of the new learn/play based activities have made lessons fun and engaging for our kids. Many of the new activities involving building and stacking have helped our kids emotionally regulate while building their focus and fine motor skills. One of my students has used stretchy manipulatives daily to help him regulate his emotions and senses, which has also helped his participation and attention strengthen. \r\n\r\nEvery new set of material unpackaged was a new set of \"ohh\" from my students. I watched their eyes consistently switch between envy, perpetual joy, and over-the-top excitement as each new item was brought out and displayed. We had enough items to ensure each student had a new item to play with, which helped manage unexpected behaviors. \r\n\r\nThe next steps for this classroom is Kindergarten Promotion. These kids have grown physically, academically, emotionally, and socially. The new resources have added to that growth, so now it's time to display that growth at the upcoming ceremony. The items will continue to help future students I receive to build their focus, their sensorial limits, and their foundational skills (i.e. giving undivided attention, remaining seated, etc.).
