They worked through an entire novel together, which helped with their reading stamina and confidence. For their Percy Jackson biography project, they looked closely at specific chapters, focusing on characters, important events, and evidence from the text. They also had the chance to compare the book to the movie, which led to great conversations and helped them think more deeply about the story.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is very interactive and fun. Students love having a voice, especially during popcorn reading, where they can choose who reads next and stay involved. We mix in discussions, small activities, and projects so reading feels more like something we experience together rather than just an assignment.\r\n\r\nThis group of students really connected with the book. Many of them shared that they actually liked the book better than the movie, which was exciting to hear! A few students have already asked to keep reading the series, which shows how invested they became in the story. It's been really great to see their excitement and how much they've enjoyed reading together.","fullyFundedDate":1766954701685,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-greek-myths-to-life-in-6th-grad/9965041/","projectTitle":"Bringing Greek Myths to Life in 6th Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tuttle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9057507_orig.jpg?crop=2133,2133,x0,y660&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1684811596516","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tuttle"},{"teacherId":9057507,"projectId":9651390,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of the Holes book set. My students have truly enjoyed reading the novel, and having their own copies has helped them connect more deeply with the characters, especially since they're close to the students age. Throughout the book, they worked hard on comprehension questions, participated in discussions, and recently completed biography projects based on the characters.\r\nThey were especially excited to finish the unit by watching the movie and comparing it to the book. Reading Holes as a class also helped many students get one step closer to reaching their reading goals for the semester.\r\nYour generosity made all of this possible.
