The wonderful twistable crayons are a lifesaver in the classroom because the children are able to put pressure on them and color without them breaking! In the past, many of the regular crayons have either had the tips fall of, or they have broken in half.\r\n\r\nThe children really like that there are a variety of colors, and many of the colors are different shades of blue, green and red. For this project, I asked them to write a postcard to their future selves. They shared favorite memories from this school year and reflected on accomplishments they are proud of. This resource has been helpful for all subjects. Last week, I used it to review poetry after spring break. It helped the kids become inspired to finish poems started before break and/or start new poems. \r\n\r\nI have also used it to teach about historical figures such as Harriet Tubman. As the children watched the video, I would pause it to discuss the events and take notes on the most important details. This introduced them to the concept of note taking while learning about an important hero.\r\n\r\nI use BrainPOP Jr. in math and science as well. They have excellent videos on geometry that I will use during our shapes unit as well as videos on measurement. When we covered the water cycle, I supplemented the material with a BrainPOP video. \r\n\r\nAfter watching the videos, they love to take the quiz. They vote on the answer they believe is correct by holding up fingers.
