Many of my students have never had that opportunity. They did not even know that \"fun\" books existed!! When reading is just a tedious, boring and \"not fun\" activity, our kiddos will never read independently. With the books that you have so generously provided, my students are actually seeking out reading time!\r\nI have been able to make a beautiful library nook at the back of my room. Students have the opportunity to read independently at the end of the day a few days a week. They also have the opportunity to sign books out of the library to take home. They have even started bringing books (especially Dog Man) to lunch to read with their friends.\r\nMany of my students live in shelters or small homes with large families. Nothing belongs to them and if it does, it is at the risk of being taken. These books have become prized possessions for them in school and they take care of them as if they are their own.\r\nThank you so very much for your donation.","fullyFundedDate":1744217708253,"projectUrl":"project/the-wonderful-world-of-books/9209807/","projectTitle":"The Wonderful World of Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Silverman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2938258_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y72&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742919339662","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mssammandmsbethskids"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18783","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":42,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":18783,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS993 @ PS41 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS993 @ PS41","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/district-75-city-wide-programs/ps993-ps41/18783"}
