They were exposed to new types of books with characters they found funny, interesting, and easy to relate to. When the books arrived, I was so excited to share them with my class! I said, \"Guys, we just got these brand new books donated to us to keep in our classroom or even borrow to read at home if you'd like!\" As I took each book out of the basket and showed them, their eyes lit up with excitement. One of my students, who absolutely loves trains, spotted Freight Train and shyly asked if he could take it home. When I said yes, he started clapping and said, \"Yes! I'm so excited!\" Seeing his little face light up made my day.\r\n\r\nI truly enjoy reading to my students. Whenever we have downtime, I pick a book from the basket and read aloud to them. They enjoy it just as much as I do. It gives me the chance to introduce them to something new and spark meaningful conversations that build their language and social skills.
