The moment we opened the box, their curiosity immediately showed. Many of them gathered around asking if they could be the first to look through the books. Seeing colorful covers, engaging illustrations, and topics that matched their interests made the experience even more special. For some students, it felt like discovering a brand-new library right in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment happened during our small-group reading time. A group of students chose a nonfiction book about animals and quickly turned it into a mini research project. They began reading together, highlighting interesting facts, and sharing what they learned with the class. One student even said, \"I didn't know reading could help us learn so many cool things!\" Their excitement turned reading time into a lively discussion where students were eager to ask questions and connect ideas.\r\n\r\nStudents reacted with huge smiles and lots of enthusiasm when they first saw the materials. Several immediately found books that matched their personal interests—sports, space, animals, and adventure stories. It was wonderful to watch even reluctant readers pick up a book and start flipping through the pages with excitement.\r\n\r\nNext, we will be using these resources as part of our ongoing reading and writing projects. Students will work in small groups to explore different texts, practice comprehension strategies, and create short presentations about what they learn. They will also use the books to support writing activities where they summarize stories, share opinions about characters, and connect the text to their own experiences.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of our donors, our classroom reading time has become more engaging, interactive, and meaningful. These resources will continue to inspire curiosity, strengthen literacy skills, and encourage a lifelong love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1758899286271,"projectUrl":"project/i-read-and-become/9749548/","projectTitle":"I Read and Become","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1603124_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759358987212","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1603124"},{"teacherId":1603124,"projectId":8238253,"letterContent":"Thanks for your generous donation! \r\nParticipating in the project that involved reading American Girls: The Care and Keeping of You helped our girls gain confidence and understanding about their changing bodies, emotions, and health.
