We put all the snacks in our snack bin and established times in which we would eat them. The sand trays are also coming in handy to write write letters to represent the sounds which I dictate to the class. The multi-sensory approach supports student's understanding of letter-sound correspondence. Finally, we are using the clue sticks to do many phonics sorting and word study projects which support our learning. \r\n\r\nThe supplies will be very helpful next year as well. The snacks revive everyone's spirt and give us that final push to make it through to 4:15. \r\n\r\nThe new little toys for the prize bin are all very desirable. I have noticed that students are working extra hard to earn points that they can use to pick out of the prize bin. The large balance balls are at my small group table and used every day by students in all our classes. My homeroom students also love to use them at recess when working on crafts and playing games. I have had multiple students tell me that they love the ability to bounce while working and it helps them to focus. The flick sticks are kept in a basket and students are able to access them whenever they need to. I have noticed that when my students are working independently is when they use them most. The sit and twist are flexible seating options that my students use while working during centers and that little bit of movement helps to calm their bodies and focus their minds. The reading boat is by far my students favorites. They love to do independent work inside and hang out during recess while reading or playing on their tablets.\r\n\r\nWhen my students use any of these new additions to our classroom, I have noticed that they are more focused on their learning!
