These racks have made such a difference in our music classroom by keeping the ukuleles safely organized and easily accessible for every student. Instead of spending time unpacking or untangling instruments, students can now quickly grab their ukuleles and get right to making music. Folks throughout the school have commented on how \"professional\" the classroom looks with such wonderful storage.\r\n\r\nSo far this year, students have learned several strumming patterns and rhythms, as well as their first chord, C Major. The storage racks have helped create a smooth routine where everyone can participate, take care of their instruments, and focus on learning. One of my favorite moments was hearing the class strum together in unison for the first time—it was a beautiful sound and a proud moment for them!\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be continuing to build our skills by practicing steady strumming and learning the A Minor chord. The students are eager to add new sounds to their playing and begin putting chords together for songs. The happy birthday pencils and bracelets will be given to students when celebrating their birthdays. When students walked into the classroom, they were amazed at how beautiful our room was. Additionally, the students are so excited to go shopping at the end of every week. Thanks to your donations we were are able to overcome these distractions. \r\n The students were so excited to see these dividers separating the space for privacy. It has helped the students focus and complete their assignments effectively. The dry erase easel has helped as well so that the children can see the objectives and vocabulary words displayed. My students who are at the Entering and Emergent stages of English proficiency have greatly benefited from our new bilingual library. These books have facilitated vocabulary growth and improved understanding while strengthening students' reading self-assurance from beginners to advanced learners.\r\n\r\nStudents in our classroom read books in both English and Spanish. Students will be observed reading silently alongside a partner while they use sticky notes to capture their thoughts or participating in small group reading discussions. Bilingual books have proven effective at enabling students of different language backgrounds to access grade-level materials. After initial hesitance with reading activities this year an Entering level student now chooses books based on her home language and cultural background. Our Expanding and Commanding students work with advanced texts to use them as templates for their writing exercises.\r\n\r\nThrough this project students achieved language growth while simultaneously building a communal sense of belonging. Students experience validation when they open books and find familiar words and stories from their lives.
