The adapted learning materials you helped provide have already become a daily part of our classroom. We've been using the visual supports, hands-on manipulatives, and task-adapted worksheets to help students access reading, math, and communication in ways that match their learning needs. These tools allow us to break down skills into clear steps, offer choices, and build confidence through small, meaningful successes.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were immediately drawn to them. Many of them rely on tactile and visual learning, so having items they can touch, move, match, and see clearly made a noticeable difference. One student who usually hesitates during academic work was able to complete a matching activity independently for the first time this year. Another began using the picture symbols to request items during centers instead of becoming frustrated. These are small moments on paper, but they are big steps for our students.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on expanding communication and independence during small group instruction. The adapted materials are helping us teach students how to engage in tasks with less adult prompting and more self-direction. Our next goal is to build personalized communication boards and task systems using these materials so students can participate more fully across daily routines. Your generosity has given us the tools to meet our students where they are and help them move forward with dignity, clarity, and success.","fullyFundedDate":1686850728957,"projectUrl":"project/adapted-material-for-students-with-speci/7176965/","projectTitle":"Adapted Material for Students with Special Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nicole","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8277371_orig.jpg?crop=828,828,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762201728614","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8277371"},{"teacherId":8277371,"projectId":6597589,"letterContent":"Thank you again for supporting our Peace Corner project. The addition of the bean bags, sensory items, and calming tools has already made a meaningful difference in our classroom. We have been teaching students how to identify when they need a break, choose a calming strategy, and then return to learning when they're ready. Having a designated space with comfortable seating and sensory supports allows students to practice these skills safely and independently, instead of feeling overwhelmed or dysregulated at their work areas.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments was the first day we opened the space. Several students walked over, sat on the bean bags, and immediately relaxed their shoulders in a way we hadn't seen before during the school day. For some students, this is the first time they have had a predictable, calming space that is theirs — not a punishment, not a timeout, but a supportive part of learning. We've already seen students use the Peace Corner to take a breath, fidget with a sensory tool, and then return to their work with more focus and confidence. This is exactly the kind of emotional regulation we are working toward.\r\n\r\nOur next step is teaching students to recognize and communicate their needs before frustration builds. The Peace Corner is now part of our daily routines, and we reference it during social-emotional lessons, morning meetings, and transitions. Your generosity didn't just fund supplies — it helped us build a classroom culture where students feel safe, respected, and capable of managing big feelings. We are so grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1676548797562,"projectUrl":"project/our-peace-corner/6597589/","projectTitle":"Our Peace Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nicole","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8277371_orig.jpg?crop=828,828,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762201728614","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8277371"},{"teacherId":8277371,"projectId":9242210,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation, our classroom is now home to a brand new air fryer and it's already making a real difference in our students' learning and independence!\r\nWe've been using the air fryer to teach important life skills during our weekly cooking lessons. From prepping ingredients to setting timers and safely handling hot food, students are building real-world functional skills that help prepare them for life beyond the classroom. One of our first recipes were mini pizzas. Simple, safe and a big hit with the students! Students followed step by step visuals, took turns assembling and proudly served the final product to their peers.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to incorporate cooking into more lessons, including math (measuring ingredients), reading (following recipes) and even social-emotional learning (sharing meals and working together). Our next project is a \"Build Your Own Breakfast\" week, where students will prepare different breakfast items and vote on their favorites.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping bring this opportunity into our classroom.
