For students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), the iPad provides access to high-quality communication apps that allow them to express their wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings. For some of my students, this is the first time they have had consistent access to a reliable voice.\r\n\r\nThe ipad is helping students learn by making communication interactive, visual, and immediate. Using AAC apps, students can build phrases, answer questions, and participate more fully in conversations. We also use Boom Cards and interactive activities to target specific language skills in a way that feels engaging rather than intimidating. The instant feedback keeps them motivated, and the visual supports help concepts \"click\" in ways that traditional paper materials sometimes cannot.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful ways we use the iPad is during book-based therapy to work on answering WH-questions (who, what, where, when, why). With built-in visuals and interactive supports, students can see the question words, match pictures to answers, and respond. This not only strengthens comprehension but also gives students the tools to participate successfully. \r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the sense of control and confidence the device gives them. When a student independently taps a button to say, \"I want more,\" answers a \"who\" question correctly using visuals, or shares an idea during a story, their pride is unmistakable. The iPad transforms therapy from something that feels difficult into something that feels empowering.\r\n\r\nI have seen particular growth in my preschoolers students who struggled to stay engaged and are more attentive when we incorporate Boom Cards, interactive visuals, and short modeling videos. The combination of movement, sound, and visuals captures their attention and supports a wide range of language goals. This single device is doing more than delivering lessons, it is providing equitable access to communication. It increases participation, reduces frustration, and builds confidence in each child's voice.\r\n\r\nYour support is helping my students communicate and connect with the world around them in ways that were not previously possible. For many of them, that is truly life-changing. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1765990163405,"projectUrl":"project/building-voices-with-every-tap/9910395/","projectTitle":"Building Voices with Every Tap","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lesly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10348955_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764010102791","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10348955"},{"teacherId":249198,"projectId":9573234,"letterContent":"I am beyond grateful for your generous donation to support our classroom project on DonorsChoose.
