One of my favorite moments happened during our first outdoor learning block after the equipment was unpacked. A group of students who usually hang back during physical activities immediately grabbed the new jump ropes and cones and began organizing their own relay challenge. It was the first time I'd seen them take the lead in a physical activity, and the confidence on their faces said everything. Inside the classroom, the healthy snacks have become a quiet but powerful support—students settle into their work more easily, stay focused longer, and no longer worry about getting through the morning on an empty stomach.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction when they first saw the materials was priceless. Several students gasped, a few cheered, and one said, \"This is like a real playground!\" Another student carefully inspected the snack bins and whispered, \"So we won't be hungry anymore?\" That moment alone made your generosity feel monumental. These resources didn't just arrive as supplies—they arrived as reassurance, joy, and opportunity.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using the outdoor equipment to support a unit on teamwork, problem‑solving, and movement. Students are designing their own cooperative games, testing them outside, and reflecting on what makes a challenge fair, fun, and engaging. The snacks continue to fuel their learning throughout the day, especially during writing and math workshops when stamina is essential. Our next steps include expanding these student‑created games into a full \"classroom field day\" later this spring, where students will teach their games to other classes. Your support made all of this possible, and we're so grateful for the energy, comfort, and excitement you've brought into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1742823969290,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-minds-essential-snacks-and-outd/9166402/","projectTitle":"Fueling Minds: Essential Snacks and Outdoor Equipment for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. W.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/362560"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_516","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":171,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":67,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"7.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":58.7,"schoolId":516,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 3 Bedford Village on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 3 Bedford Village","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-3-bedford-village/516"}
