When the resource arrived, they helped me to unpack the boxes and eagerly explored the sound of each bell, filling the room with beautiful sound. My students discovered that each color produces a specific pitch and learned how to play a melody by identifying colors. Then we moved on to the next step, and I guided the kids on how to play intervals and chords to accompany the songs they already knew. My students truly enjoyed these activities so much! \r\n\r\nWhen students return to school in September, I plan to teach them how to play melodies with chromatic bells, including sharps and flats, that they haven't had a chance to explore yet. It will help them understand music elements with the aid of visuals that manipulate colors and letters. Thank you so much for making this donation to my classroom! As you can see by the photographs, my students were very excited to unpack, preview, and read the books you donated to our classroom.\r\nIn second grade, students enjoy choosing their own \"independent reading\" texts, and enjoy the illustrations as much as the stories themselves. \r\nIn supporting our effort to build reading stamina, and to practice the skills involved in reading series narratives, your donations allowed them sustained practice with longer blocks of texts, while having less visual support while reading. This builds the students' comprehension skills, as they have to depend more on the written words on the page, and less on colorful illustrations, to help them truly understand a story.\r\nI was delighted to see that in the span of six weeks, most students read four or more books in a series.\r\nAs an avid reader myself, I know your generosity helped my children develop the love of WANTING to read. You have supported me in creating an environment where children will choose to read, and not just read because the teacher says it is time to read. My students read these books during breakfast, when they finished their work early, and a couple of them even snuck books home so that they could finish the stories they started earlier in the day. \r\n\r\nThank you for your support and for your quick response for help.","fullyFundedDate":1744225088032,"projectUrl":"project/popular-series-narratives/9233487/","projectTitle":"Popular Series Narratives","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dellimore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3756763_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1511928712998","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-dellimore"},{"teacherId":51313,"projectId":8732246,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, our music classroom now boasts a superior sound system, treating students and audiences to exceptional musical experiences.
