I am working with pre-k and kindergarten students who are all on the spectrum and require sensory based tools to help them engage in school based activities. The vibrating pillows and wiggle feet have come in handy and have been distrubted to every class and are used every day to help the children. The large scooter, fidgets, cardstock have been used daily as well. The walking pedometers will be used with our high school students to help them better understand the benefits of step counting on their overall health and wellbeing. The moment the rope arrived, my students' faces lit up with anticipation. They couldn't wait to grab hold and test their strength as a team. During our first PE class with the rope, we organized a mini tug of war tournament, and the cheers and laughter echoed across the field as students worked together, strategizing and pulling with all their might. It was a heartwarming sight to see even our shyest students join in, encouraged by their classmates, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork that's at the core of what we strive for in PE.We've been incorporating the tug of war rope into weekly PE lessons to build physical strength, coordination, and collaboration skills. One memorable moment was when a group of students, who initially struggled to synchronize their efforts, spent time planning their approach and won a match against a stronger team by working as a cohesive unit. This victory sparked a wave of confidence and excitement that carried over into other activities. Looking ahead, we're preparing for our annual Field Day, where over 400 students from nine schools will come together for a day of friendly competition and celebration. The tug of war rope will be a centerpiece event, giving our students a chance to showcase their teamwork and spirit in front of a huge crowd. We would like to eventually have students create a recipe book of microwave friendly and no bake recipes they can practice with their families at home.
