Thanks to your support, our shelves are now filled with vibrant, engaging books centered on opinions and persuasive writing!!\r\n\r\nIn our classroom my English Language Learners are navigating a second (or third) language, the leap from speaking to writing a structured argument can be incredibly daunting. For my students, these books are more than just stories—they are mentor texts. They provide a clear \"roadmap.\" By seeing how an author builds an argument, my students can mirror those structures in their own writing. These books introduce persuasive transition words and \"opinion language\" in a natural way. Seeing relatable topics debated in print empowers my ELLs to realize that their opinions are valid and that they have the tools to express them effectively. We have already begun using one of the new titles to identify \"claim\" and \"evidence.\" Seeing the students point to a professional text and say, \"I can write a sentence like that,\" is a moment every teacher dreams of and you made that possible.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in these young voices.
