The children have been using the washing machine, baskets, and clothing items to act out real life routines like sorting clothes, washing, drying, and folding. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group work together to sort clothes by color and type, using words like \"shirts,\" \"pants,\" and \"matching socks.\" It turned into a rich conversation full of problem solving, teamwork, and language development.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited! There were so many smiles, and they immediately jumped into role playing, pretending to be family members doing laundry. It was amazing to see how naturally they connected the materials to their own experiences at home.\r\n\r\nNext, we are building on this by introducing more concept development into the center. Students will begin exploring sequencing what comes first, next, last, practicing fine motor skills through folding and clipping clothes, and expanding vocabulary with labels and question prompts. We also plan to incorporate writing by having students create laundry tickets and pretend receipts. This center continues to grow with their curiosity, and it's been such a meaningful, hands on way to support real world learning in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1771857610378,"projectUrl":"project/a-laundry-center-for-our-clothing-study/10089082/","projectTitle":"A Laundry Center for Our Clothing Study","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Merced","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10057975_orig.jpg?crop=3520,3520,x333,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750430213872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10057975"},{"teacherId":10057975,"projectId":9816731,"letterContent":"Because of your incredible generosity, our classroom is now filled with vibrant, beautiful learning materials thanks to our new color printer! Seeing my students' faces light up when they receive bright, engaging visuals has truly been magical. In a 3K classroom, color makes such a difference. It brings books, name cards, learning charts, and hands-on activities to life in ways that spark curiosity and excitement every single day.\r\n\r\nThis printer has already transformed our learning environment. I am now able to create colorful literacy resources, visual supports, family newsletters, student portfolios, and interactive materials that meet each child's individual needs. My students are visual learners, and having access to high-quality printed materials helps strengthen print knowledge, vocabulary development, and engagement during lessons. It also allows me to document their growth in a meaningful and beautiful way to share with families.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in my students and investing in their learning. It is how learning comes to life. Since receiving these supplies, I have been able to create vibrant alphabet charts, individualized name tracing pages, math matching activities, science observation sheets, and visual supports that help my three year olds navigate their day with confidence.\r\n\r\nAt this age, children are just beginning to understand that print has meaning. Having consistent access to printing supplies allows me to provide clear visual schedules, labeled classroom materials, and hands on learning tools that support early literacy, independence, and routine building.\r\n\r\nYour donation has also strengthened our home school connection. Families now receive printed newsletters, learning extensions, and communication tools that help continue the learning beyond our classroom walls.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these supplies allow me to respond to my students in real time. If they show interest in buildings, wheels, trees, or letters in their names, I can immediately create materials that extend their curiosity. That flexibility makes our classroom more engaging, inclusive, and responsive to every child.\r\n\r\nWhat may seem like simple supplies have created meaningful learning opportunities for three year olds who are just beginning their educational journey. You have helped build a stronger foundation for their future.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and investing in our youngest learners.","fullyFundedDate":1762266245675,"projectUrl":"project/printing-supplies-for-all-our-classroom/9841308/","projectTitle":"Printing Supplies for All Our Classroom Needs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Merced","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10057975_orig.jpg?crop=3520,3520,x333,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750430213872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10057975"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_660","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":253,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":52,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"6.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":53.3,"schoolId":660,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 202 Ernest Jenkyns on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 202 Ernest Jenkyns","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-202-ernest-jenkyns/660"}
