I look around my room every day and think how wonderful it is that my students can get what they need without help from the classroom staff. Any opportunity to promote independence, is a plus for my students.\r\nMy students are children with Autism and structure and routing is crucial for them. Disorganization makes them anxious and can trigger negative behaviors. When we set up the organization items, my students were excited when they saw them in the closet and at the work stations. There are daily opportunities for them to demonstrate independence and station work is one of those opportunities. The paraprofessional has an organized cart with all the worksheets and resources need for the lesson. The \"lazy Susan\" on top of the organizer cart also makes it easy for the students to grab their supplies and be ready to work. I can send them to the closet and they can choose whatever marker, glue stick, pencil and/or pens that they need. An extra bonus is that the organizers are clear so even if they can't read the label, they can see the items in the organizer.
