The items requested will make a lasting impact on my students' needs this year. We have been learning virtually for over a year and predict that the children will have difficulty learning to readjust to in-person learning full time. We are planning to use the meditation mat and the books to help the children re-learn how to transition throughout the day as well as provide them with the tools needed to learn to name their emotions which will help them learn self-awareness and management skills. The yoga mats will be used for trauma-informed yoga as well as mindful movement activities and the books will provide the children with visual representations of relaxation and breathing techniques. My list is of items that will help me facilitate teaching my children and their families yoga and social-emotional skills at home now and in-person in the coming summer and fall.
