They may not be as glamorous as expensive musical instruments, but they are vital to creating a structured classroom environment that fosters student expression. \r\n\r\nFor example, the dry erase boards are often used for students to create and edit rhythm patterns before writing them down on paper. They work in groups to each create a portion of the pattern and then share their work with the class. It has been a life saver to have these materials so we can easily work our way toward composing songs.\r\n\r\nThe crayons are also used frequently by kindergarten students who are creating a \"Mindfulness & Music\" coloring book. Each week they learn about a letter of the alphabet and explore instruments and emotions that start with that letter. They use the crayons to color a reflection worksheet that we will put together into a book at the end of the school year. \r\n\r\nWithout these tools, my new music classroom would've been not only less warm and inviting, but less productive. So thank you so much for your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1753989205477,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-essentials-open-the-door-to-cr/9473340/","projectTitle":"Classroom Essentials Open the Door to Creative Expression","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9782_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758051931560","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/martha-nelson"},{"teacherId":10085334,"projectId":9481011,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support of my DonorsChoose project, my art room has been completely transformed. Before this project, my classroom had no access to running water, which made painting lessons and cleanup incredibly challenging. With the addition of portable water containers, a rolling cart, and an abundant supply of baby wipes, my students now have the freedom to explore painting and other hands-on art experiences without limitation. We can easily refill water from the hallway fountain, keep brushes clean, and maintain a tidy workspace. This project has truly expanded what's possible in our art room — creativity flows more freely, and my students take pride in their ability to paint, clean, and care for their materials responsibly.","fullyFundedDate":1753681552455,"projectUrl":"project/whats-an-art-room-without-water-help-u/9481011/","projectTitle":"What’s an Art Room Without Water? The impact it has made on our classroom environment has been unmatched. With the resources we received, we have created the most effective and safe environments for our students to thrive. Implementing more flexible seating options has empowered our students to reach their highest potential, and our students now use sensory resources daily. \r\n My students are beginning to recognize their sensory needs and independently use the resources around the room. \"Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out\" -Robert Collier.
