As a teacher who recently relocated to New York City, I had to completely start over and was unable to bring any of my previous classroom materials with me. This meant building a new classroom entirely from scratch.\r\n\r\nWhat has this project done for my students?\r\nThe DonorsChoose project has given my students the opportunity to learn in a fun, engaging classroom filled with technology, vibrant visuals, and inspirational messages they can read every day.\r\n\r\nHow my classroom and students have benefited from the donated items:\r\nThe color printer and scanner allow me to print and display student work in color—something that truly brightens our learning environment. As a 3rd-grade teacher, one of my top priorities is to create a space that feels welcoming and inspiring. With the printer, scanner, and additional ink, I can produce colorful multiplication charts, ELA materials, and global images that support our social studies lessons. These resources help create an artistic, dynamic setting where students feel excited to learn.\r\nThe inspirational posters placed around the room motivate students and remind them that they can overcome challenges and self-doubt. The classroom calendar and digital clock help students stay organized, manage their time, and remain focused throughout the day. Many of them feel more motivated and independent when they can clearly see the date and time.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I spend many hours in the classroom after school planning strategically based on curriculum and student data. The comfortable computer chair has made a significant difference, allowing me to complete this important work with much more ease.\r\n\r\nHow students have benefited from the new technology:\r\nAll of my students have benefited from the technology provided. Every child now has meaningful access to tools that strengthen their core academic skills and support their growth in the classroom.\r\nOnce again, I want to say thank you to DonorsChoose for allowing me to create this project and for generously funding it. Snack time has become one of their favorite moments — a time not only to nourish their bodies but also to build social connections, practice sharing, and develop independence. It's incredible to see their little faces light up as they enjoy their snacks and engage in meaningful conversations with friends.\r\n\r\nMany of our families face daily challenges, so having access to nutritious snacks at school provides peace of mind for both students and parents. Your kindness has helped ensure that no child in our classroom goes hungry or distracted, and that every child feels cared for and supported.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in my students and helping create a classroom where they can thrive — one snack, one smile, and one lesson at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1746786116718,"projectUrl":"project/snack-time-smile-time-fueling-little-m/9199867/","projectTitle":"Snack Time, Smile Time: Fueling Little Minds in the Bronx","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9721967_orig.jpg?crop=1078,1078,x80,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725116264793","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9721967"},{"teacherId":22529,"projectId":9214656,"letterContent":"Thanks again for your generous donations.\r\n\r\nWe want to expose children in fields that share an emphasis on innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking. When the games arrived, the students were excited and said it was like Christmas in the summer. It was nice to see that we had an alternative to just running around the yard. Also, it taught kids the skills needed to play a game with a partner or partners. The new supplies made a big difference. My students used their notebooks, markers, and pencils daily during writing and math lessons. One of our favorite projects so far was creating \"All About Me\" posters. Each child was able to use their own set of supplies to draw, write, and decorate their posters with pride.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. Several of them said, \"They had never gotten so many supplies \" It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they realized they had the tools they needed to succeed. Something as simple as having their own sharp pencils or colorful markers gave them a sense of ownership and responsibility for their learning.\r\nIn addition, we were able to use the supplies for a science unit where students kept journals to record their observations and experiments. The materials you provided supported my students' daily work, and it know helped developed their skills throughout the school year. Thanks to your generous donations, they were able to have healthy snacks to sustain them, so that they can focus and complete their assignments.\r\nOur school supplies were diminishing, and it was becoming challenging to replenish supplies for a class of 30 students. We had to be innovative sometimes to complete our assignments.\r\nWhen I shared with them my plans to ask a group of caring adults to donate healthy snacks and school supplies for them they were very excited. Daily I was bombarded with questions about the project and if it was funded. Eventually, I was able to share the good news that a groups of generous donors contributed and our project was funded. I am writing to share the incredible impact your generous donation of books has had on my Pre-K students.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our classroom library has come to life with engaging, hands-on texts that connect directly to the areas of math, science, blocks, and art. These books have sparked meaningful conversations, inspired curiosity, and helped our little learners build connections between literacy and the world around them.\r\n\r\nIn our math center, books about counting, patterns, and shapes have made abstract concepts feel fun and concrete. Students now sit together with books in hand, pointing to numbers, comparing sizes, and proudly identifying patterns they see around the classroom.\r\n\r\nIn the science area, books about weather, plants, animals, and the five senses have encouraged exploration and observation. My students have become mini-scientists—asking questions, making predictions, and using new vocabulary they've picked up from these texts during their investigations.\r\n\r\nThe block center has become a space where building and storytelling go hand in hand. Books that feature bridges, buildings, and community helpers have inspired creative structures and role-play. Students are now using blocks to build what they read, deepening their comprehension and expanding their imagination.\r\n\r\nAnd in the art center, books that highlight colors, textures, famous artists, and self-expression have empowered students to see themselves as artists too. They're mixing colors with purpose, recreating illustrations they admire, and proudly sharing their masterpieces with classmates.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these books have created joyful moments of learning, discovery, and connection. Watching my students light up as they explore these books reminds me of the power of literacy in early childhood education—and the importance of access to high-quality resources.\r\n\r\nThank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing in our classroom and supporting our young learners.
