This year my school is rolling out the Computer Science for All Program. Having access to i-pads in the classroom would be a game changer. I aim to incorporate aspects of computer science into my classroom daily. Students will use the i-pads to access Scratch Jr. This is an app in which they can apply the coding skills they will be learning in class. Students will also use the iPads to access lessons I will assign to then on code.org. These assignments will be based on a student’s individual level.
Computers are changing everything and yet most students aren't exposed to computer science. This leaves students ill prepared for a world in which coding will be a way of life. I-pads in combination with the Computer Science for All program will help to introduce my students to the lucrative field of computer science. It will allow them to work collaboratively to create programs. They will also learn to problem solve by working together to debug their programs. This exposing them to the notion that making mistakes is okay. In fact, it is a vital part of the programming process.
