The addition of a classroom easel has truly enhanced our daily instruction and created new opportunities for student participation. I use the easel across all subject areas to model writing strategies, demonstrate math problem solving, and facilitate whole class discussions. My students are also using it regularly to share their thinking, work through problems. It is an essential part of our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stands out occurred during our writing workshop. We were focusing on personal narratives, and I used the easel to model how to expand a small moment with details. As I wrote and thought aloud, students followed along and began generating their own ideas. I then invited students to come up and add sentences to a shared class story. Watching them collaborate in real time was incredibly powerful. Students were engaged, supportive of one another, and excited to contribute. Even my more reserved students felt encouraged to participate, which made the experience especially meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhen the easel was first introduced, my students were immediately excited and curious. This was a new classroom tool, and it sparked a lot of interest. That initial excitement has continued as they've grown more comfortable using it. Now, students often ask if they can use the easel to explain their thinking or share their work, which shows a growing sense of ownership and confidence.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of our donors, we now have a resource that supports active learning and student voice. As we move forward, we will continue to integrate the easel into our current lessons and projects.
