Because of your generosity, our students now have a countertop screen that has truly transformed our small group learning time.\r\nIn our self-contained special education classroom, this screen serves a very specific and powerful purpose. It allows me to break lessons into smaller, manageable steps and present them with clear visuals, short videos, interactive activities, and repeated practice. My students often need concepts modeled multiple times with strong visual cues, and the screen makes it possible to slow things down, highlight key details, and revisit ideas in ways that meet their individual learning styles. Instead of simply listening, students can see, touch, respond, and actively participate in the lesson.\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is how interactive the screen is. They light up when they get to come up and move items on the screen, circle answers, match pictures, or watch a quick visual demonstration. Even something as simple as dragging and dropping letters to build a word feels like a game to them. That engagement has made a huge difference in focus. Students who once struggled to stay with a lesson are now eager to take their turn.\r\nA few of my students have especially warmed up to this new technology. One student who is typically hesitant to participate now volunteers to demonstrate answers because the visual support gives them confidence. Another student who benefits from repeated exposure loves replaying short instructional clips until the concept clicks. For students who need extra processing time, the ability to pause, review, and visually organize information has reduced frustration and increased independence.\r\nOur goals were to improve focus, deepen understanding, and increase participation, and we are already seeing growth in all three areas. Most importantly, my students are excited about learning. They ask when we are using the screen again, and that enthusiasm carries over into other parts of our day.\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their success. Your generosity is helping create a classroom where every child can access learning in a way that works for them.","fullyFundedDate":1763515991523,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-learners-countertop-screen-for/9737798/","projectTitle":"Engaging Learners: Countertop Screen for Our Special Education Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9787202_orig.jpg?crop=1250,1250,x532,y748&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758989075029","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9787202"},{"teacherId":6255484,"projectId":9818653,"letterContent":"Thank you again for making our phonics project possible. Because of your generosity, my students are actively using the new materials every day to strengthen their reading and blending skills.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the phonics tools during small-group instruction and literacy centers. One special moment that stands out was during a blending activity where students used the hands-on materials to build and read CVC words. A student who had been struggling to blend sounds independently suddenly read an entire word smoothly on her own. Her face lit up with pride, and the class immediately celebrated her success. It was a powerful reminder of how the right resources can unlock confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to explore, touch, and try everything. Several students asked, \"Are these really for us?\" They couldn't wait to begin using them, and that enthusiasm has carried over into our daily lessons. Reading practice now feels more interactive and engaging.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are building on these foundational blending skills by working on reading short sentences and simple decodable texts. Our next step is helping students apply their phonics knowledge in connected reading, improving fluency and comprehension. The materials you provided are allowing us to scaffold this learning in a meaningful way, giving students the support they need as they grow into confident readers.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and giving them tools that are already making a difference. I was expecting that maybe some of my friends or family would help donate to the cause, but before there even was a chance for that, YOU stepped in and COMPLETED my project with your generous donation!! I was shocked and inspired beyond! I am an elementary music teacher at a public school in Queens, NY. I literally service 500 students a week. These students were able to play with brand new instruments, and they LOVE them!! I have included some pictures of my adorable Pre-K students enjoying the instruments. I was also able to purchase a large table that I really needed for displaying my instruments at the front of the room - this organization helps me with my lessons and also gives the students more structure and routine in the classroom. This table will be used for years and will hold many different instruments and activities that will vary in excitement and practicality for years to come!!
