We introduced the bins during center time, and it was incredible to see how quickly the children engaged with the different textures and tools. We created themed sensory stations—like a \"garden dig\" with soil and plastic bugs and a \"beach day\" with kinetic sand and shells—allowing students to explore, create, and build their fine motor skills. One especially memorable moment was watching a group of students work together to build a \"bug hotel\" in the garden bin, showing off not only their creativity but also their growing skills in communication and collaboration.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. Many couldn't wait to get their hands into the bins, and some even gasped out loud! It was heartwarming to see such pure joy and wonder. Looking ahead, we are planning to integrate the sensory materials into a unit on the five senses, where students will explore and describe different textures, smells, and visuals through hands-on experiments. These sensory experiences are helping build essential language skills and critical thinking, setting the foundation for future science investigations and descriptive writing projects. We're so grateful for the support that made these enriching opportunities possible!","fullyFundedDate":1736957709494,"projectUrl":"project/tk-sensory-bins-for-fine-motor-skills/9040522/","projectTitle":"TK Sensory Bins for Fine Motor Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hodge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5919442_orig.png?crop=982,982,x0,y65&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719288282780","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5919442"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38282","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":563,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"26.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.3,"schoolId":38282,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pride Academy - Prospect Avenue School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pride Academy - Prospect Avenue School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santee-school-district/prospect-avenue-elementary-school/38282"}
