We are a culturally responsive, play-based classroom, so we have been using the new materials to create meaningful hands-on experiences where children can explore, create, build, and learn about themselves and the world around them.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching the children explore the materials for the first time. Their excitement was immediate! They wanted to touch everything, ask questions, share their ideas, and figure out all the different ways they could use the materials. For young children, having new and engaging resources makes learning feel like an adventure. I especially love watching them work together, problem-solve, use their imaginations, and turn simple materials into something completely their own.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building learning experiences around identity, family, culture, literacy, science, math, and creative play. As we move through our classroom studies, these resources will become part of our learning centers and projects. The children will have opportunities to draw, write, build, investigate, pretend, ask questions, and document what they discover.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials are helping us continue to build a classroom where children are not only learning, but are also seen, represented, and celebrated. My students love hiding and digging out the number shells in the sand.\r\n\r\nOur writing center is full of materials to explore the alphabet. My students loved using the stamps to find the letters in their names. They have explored writing with the writing boards.
