Each student now has their own book that they keep here in our reading classroom. We are using this book daily to record our weekly vocabulary words and their definition. \r\n\r\nStudents learn vocabulary through many different ways: reading widely, using app or games, keeping a journal, focusing on context by learning words in sentences, and actively practicing words in speaking and writing. Our students are becoming more effective learners by using their new books to record words and their definitions, review and reread their writing, draw meaningful pictures for words, and write sentences and paragraphs for their words. \r\n\r\nScores are increasing because students are able to review in their books and reference them throughout their time in fourth grade. Some students in our district also have difficulty visiting a doctor when they become ill. You should have seen students' faces when the large boxes were delivered to my classroom! They yelled \"it's Christmas\"! I told them \"yes, it is\" as we had just received a very nice donation and gifts to keep us healthy this school year.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the purifiers, our classrooms also received tissues and disinfecting wipes to keep our classrooms and noses clean.
