This was the first time I have read this novel with my students and they absolutely LOVED it. It had a huge impact on their hearts.\r\nI want to share a story of my student Quinn. One of the characters in the story Via tells a chapter from her perspective about the difficulties of having a brother like Augi who always comes first due to his special needs. Quinn has a twin brother who is severely autistic and tears rolled down her cheeks as we read Via's thoughts and feelings. I could tell they mirrored her own and voiced them in a way she didn't know how to.\r\nOverall, my students were more compassionate towards one another while we read this book. I cannot thank you enough! I plan to use it every year from now on. The only change is I want to do it earlier in the year instead of the end, so we can enjoy the bonds earlier.","fullyFundedDate":1744290630885,"projectUrl":"project/wonder-novel-study/9224553/","projectTitle":"Wonder Novel Study","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Iwasko","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9990256"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9132","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":600,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":84.7,"schoolId":9132,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Port Neches Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Port Neches Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/port-neches-groves-ind-sd/port-neches-elementary-school/9132"}
