A few students even mentioned how having snacks available helped them focus better, as they often come to class hungry. My Work Readiness students were super excited to know we were fully funded, as I had shared how I created my project to help them! My plan was for this donation to help in an ongoing fashion throughout the year, when my hygiene basket and shelf stock get low. There are no limits to what students can take and what they can use. They do not have to ask me for any hygiene items, and the snacks are given out consistently or when they express hunger. All of my students have IEP's, and participate often, if not daily, in community based internships/mentorships/service projects. They are often in need of these items and snacks in order to feel and look their best before going out to community based experiences to interact with others. Additionally, I had to go out on a medical leave recently for surgery this year. I took 3 pictures to share with you all, one after I had stocked my shelves/basket before I left, 1 of what the stock looked like when I returned from my leave (without anyone restocking while I was gone) and another one of my immediate restock when I returned. I stock at least every two weeks or when I see the need. Without your generous donations, the stock would have remained low until I could get to the store to purchase with my own funds. This year, it will consistently stay stocked. Again, we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
