For the past three weeks, students from the middle school had been staying after school every day from 3 pm to 5:30 pm to build two robots to complete in the FTC Competition. We completed the robots, and had an outstanding experience at the competition. \r\n\r\nOriginally, we only had four students staying after school, but we expanded that to nine after word spread that we were providing good snacks. The nutrition provided a nice incentive, and it allowed the students to work longer without fighting hunger pain. This donation had a huge impact.\r\n\r\nWe've only used about 25% of the snacks so far, and the remainder are currently being provided after school for our high school robotics students while they prepare for their FRC Competition in March. This donation will continue to benefit our students through the remainder of the school year.","fullyFundedDate":1769336400851,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-feed-the-robot-builders/10053654/","projectTitle":"Help Us Feed the Robot Builders!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Laurenson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5841777"},{"teacherId":3214040,"projectId":9927745,"letterContent":"My students and I really appreciated getting the copies of the sequels to The Hunger Games! They are learning even more about character development and vocabulary and they don't even realize it!\r\n\r\nAny time a student finishes an assignment early, he/she/they can pop over to my bookshelves and read. (Our building collects cell phones all school day, so this is one of their favorite options.) I also permit them to sign the books out to read whenever they choose as well. Catching Fire, Mockingjay, and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes have all been favorites since they arrived. My freshman students read the book, but even more 10th graders have asked about them because they read The Hunger Games last year and want to know how it ends! \r\n\r\nThank you all so much for furthering my students love of reading!","fullyFundedDate":1764601399688,"projectUrl":"project/continuing-the-hunger-games/9927745/","projectTitle":"Continuing the Hunger Games","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Morse","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3214040_orig.jpg?crop=2544,2544,x0,y754&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762183239735","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3214040"},{"teacherId":2820421,"projectId":9151503,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my physics students now have the tools they need to work confidently and independently every day. The binders you funded have completely transformed our classroom organization—students now maintain structured lab notebooks and keep all of their practice work in one place, which has made a tremendous difference for many who struggle with executive functioning. The extra laptop chargers have been a game‑changer as well. My students rely heavily on technology for simulations, data collection, and online labs, and your support ensures that dead batteries never interrupt their learning. One of my favorite moments came during our first digital lab of the semester: several students who often feel anxious about being unprepared lit up when they realized they could grab a charger and get right to work without missing a beat.\r\nWe're already putting these resources to use in our current unit on energy and motion. Students are building long‑term lab portfolios, comparing their predictions, data, and explanations from hands‑on investigations. Because they can keep their devices charged and their materials organized, they've been able to work more efficiently—and with noticeably more pride. Next week, students will begin a multi‑day project analyzing real‑world phenomena using online simulations and recorded lab data. Their organized binders will help them track their progress, while the chargers will allow groups to stay collaborative and mobile around the room.\r\nYour support has not only provided materials—it has given my students a sense of preparedness, independence, and ownership of their learning. I try to always ask the children, \"What do you want for the classroom?\" Sometimes they don't know what they want, but I let them browse online before creating a project.\r\nWith our school focusing on SEL this year, we decided that we needed some manipulative to enhance participation. The water bottles are a huge hit! The kids are enjoying choosing stickers and designing their own bottles. The lap pads, that are weighted blankets, seem to be effective with the students. With a population in our classroom, the stress balls are magnificent for the children because they can request to use one when they are feeling at risk in any given situation.
