My students are learning that reading is more than just reading the words on a page—it's about making connections, learning new vocabulary, identifying themes, making predictions, and thinking deeply about characters and their choices.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a time to slow down, talk, wonder, and share ideas. We read together, stop to discuss what we notice, and encourage students to share their thinking with one another. These new texts have given my students something to look forward to and have helped make reading feel like an adventure.\r\n\r\nMy students especially love having books that they can connect with and get excited about. Seeing them choose a book, get comfortable, and become completely absorbed in the story is one of my favorite parts of the day.
