STEM Skillastics incorporated physical education with STEM topics and got students active, thinking and working together to win the game. I needed to combine a few classes to get enough students at this school, as well as schedule a time when we could use the gym, but it was worth it. The students ranged in age from 3rd to 6th grade and I split them up so each grade was on each team. They had to work together and take turns running to the mat, rolling the dice and moving their piece, sharing with their team what physical activity they needed to do, and then answer a question about science, technology, engineering or math. Then the next person had their turn. The first team that circled the mat won the game. I was so impressed with how well they worked together, encouraged each other, helped each other and genuinely cheered each other on. I look forward to using this game with my other schools, but for some I'll need to wait until warmer weather to go outside.\r\nThank you so much for helping fund this activity for me to share with my students, it was fun and they were active and learning at the same time. These include students needing to follow directions to create the gears and structures so that the GearBots actually move. It also includes needing to put together paper pieces to finish the GearBots, which required more dexterity than you would think. Students are now able to explore static electricity and electrical charge through direct interaction, witnessing firsthand the effects of invisible forces. Their eyes light up as they see hair stand on end, feel the gentle zap of a charge, and ask deeper questions about the \"why\" and \"how\" behind what they're experiencing.\r\n\r\nThis donation has not only enriched our science curriculum, but it has also inspired students to think like scientists—making predictions, testing hypotheses, and discussing observations with enthusiasm.
