The resources you provided are making a difference every single day. Our new class set of headphones ensures every student can fully participate in online reading and math programs without distractions or worrying about forgotten or broken headphones. Calculators have strengthened math and science instruction by allowing students to confidently solve problems, explore concepts, and focus on critical thinking rather than computation alone. These shared classroom tools have created equitable access, giving every learner the opportunity to succeed regardless of their background or circumstances.\r\n\r\nYour support has also helped meet the unique needs of our diverse learners in meaningful ways. Pencil holders promote organization and improve writing stamina, while chair bands and sensory stickers provide subtle movement and tactile input that help students regulate their attention, remain engaged, and participate more successfully throughout the day. Their excitement went next level when they realized additional wobble stools and two new stool options were also added. \r\n\r\nThese additional seating options give more students the opportunity to have a choice in how they wish to sit throughout the day. The 25 science pouches you helped fund have become an essential part of our investigations, empowering students with their own magnifiers, thermometers, rulers, tweezers, notebooks, crayons, and safety glasses. With tools in hand, students are confidently exploring our outdoor campus— observing soil in the garden, examining erosion near the storm drain, and closely observing plant adaptations within the school ecosystems. Access to personal toolkits has increased engagement, ownership, and thoughtful data collection, allowing students to practice science in authentic and meaningful ways aligned with the Virginia SOLs.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been exciting. Students who thrive with hands-on learning are more focused and independent, collaboration during STEM challenges has strengthened, and scientific discussions are richer because every child is engaged. Most importantly, our learners now see themselves as capable scientists— focused and curious, careful, and confident in their ability to investigate the world around them. Our fifth graders used the \"Read All About Me\" posters to introduce themselves, celebrate their unique backgrounds, and discover the many interests and experiences they share. These activities fostered meaningful conversations, encouraged empathy, and helped students develop relationships built on trust and respect. The numbered pocket chart has also become an important organizational tool, providing a consistent place for classroom materials while helping establish routines that maximize instructional time from the very first day.\r\n\r\nThe additional resources have continued to enrich learning long after those first weeks of school. Students have used the Play-Doh, canvas boards, and masking tape during collaborative STEAM challenges, creating models, designing solutions, and communicating their thinking in creative, hands-on ways. The cursive desk name tags have served as daily reference tools, supporting handwriting practice while also providing quick access to multiplication facts, place value, fractions, decimals, and measurement concepts across the curriculum. Together, these materials have helped create a classroom where students feel welcomed, organized, and empowered to take academic risks. Thank you for investing in experiences that strengthened both our classroom community and our students' confidence as learners from the very first day of school.","fullyFundedDate":1660063051198,"projectUrl":"project/preparing-for-success-this-school-year/6548387/","projectTitle":"Preparing for Success This School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp490280_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1461189761098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kaanderson"},{"teacherId":490280,"projectId":5176526,"letterContent":"Thank you for making hands-on science possible for my fifth graders! When my students received their individual science tools, they were genuinely excited to discover that they would be able to conduct real investigations from home instead of simply watching demonstrations on a screen. Even though we were learning virtually, each student had the opportunity to become a scientist by making careful observations, collecting data, and testing ideas with their own equipment. One of my favorite moments was watching students proudly hold up their hand lenses to share close-up observations of everyday objects they had found around their homes. Their curiosity and excitement reminded me that authentic learning can happen anywhere when students have the right resources.\r\n\r\nThroughout the year, these materials became an important part of our science lessons. Students used their graduated cylinders and thermometers to investigate the properties of matter, measured changes during experiments, explored waves with their own springs, and made detailed observations using their hand lenses. Instead of simply reading about scientific concepts, they experienced them firsthand. Having individual materials meant every child could actively participate, ask questions, make discoveries, and build confidence as a young scientist.\r\n\r\nAs we continue learning, these resources will remain valuable tools that support inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The skills students developed through these hands-on investigations will carry into future science units and help them approach new challenges with curiosity and confidence. Thank you for helping bring meaningful, real-world science experiences into the homes of my students and for reminding them that learning can happen anywhere.","fullyFundedDate":1601715144126,"projectUrl":"project/old-school-science-tools/5176526/","projectTitle":"Old-School Science Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp490280_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1461189761098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kaanderson"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34197","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":510,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.9,"schoolId":34197,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pinchbeck Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pinchbeck Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/henrico-county-public-schools/pinchbeck-elementary-school/34197"}
