With over 400 students at our Title I school in Lexington, NC, many of whom are students of color, having one more large instrument greatly increases student access and participation.\r\n\r\nThis additional xylophone provides more opportunities for students to play the \"big\" instruments during whole-class and small-group instruction. Instead of rotating quickly or waiting for a turn, more students can actively engage in ensemble playing at the same time, allowing for deeper musical learning and more consistent practice.\r\n\r\nWe are using the alto xylophone to support lessons on steady beat, melodic patterns, and ensemble skills. These durable, high-quality instruments are designed for years of use, helping us maintain strong, consistent music instruction and meaningful student engagement for many years to come.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using this instrument in rotating ensembles, student-created patterns, and class performances where every child has an active role. Your donation has transformed our media center into a vibrant hub of creativity and hands-on learning. The supplies you provided have opened up a world of possibilities for my students, allowing them to explore, experiment, and bring their imaginative ideas to life in ways that simply weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nThe impact on my students has been remarkable. They eagerly anticipate their time in the media center, knowing they'll have the opportunity to engage with exciting STEAM activities. The duct tape projects, in particular, have been an absolute hit! Students have designed and created everything from wallets and bookmarks to decorative items and functional prototypes, developing problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and artistic expression along the way. Watching their faces light up as they master new techniques and proudly display their finished creations has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my teaching career.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has done more than just provide materials—it has empowered my students to see themselves as innovators and creators. They're learning that with curiosity, creativity, and the right resources, they can turn their ideas into reality. With the new shelving, we now have a safe and organized place to store student projects and materials, which helps students feel proud of their work and keeps everything accessible for learning. This also prevents damage to artwork that had been a frequent concern in previous school years. \r\n\r\n The kitchen island has become our demo table, giving me a dedicated space to comfortably teach and show students new techniques—this has made demonstrations clearer, smoother, and more engaging. It is much faster to hand out materials and has definitely increased engagement. \r\n\r\nFinally, the addition of a wet floor mat and wet floor sign has made our art room much safer, reducing the risk of slips and allowing students to move around more confidently while they create and help themselves to painting materials.
