Because of you, my students now have access to snacks, candy, and stress-relief tools that meet both their physical and emotional needs throughout the school day. These resources have already started making a meaningful difference by helping students stay focused, feel supported, and regulate their emotions in healthy ways.\r\n\r\nThe snacks and candy are available for students who may come to school hungry or aren't able to bring additional food from home. Now, when a student is distracted due to hunger or has low energy, they can grab a quick snack and return to learning without feeling embarrassed or left out. The candy also serves as a fun and simple relationship-builder—something small that helps students feel seen and appreciated. The stress tools are used during calm-down breaks or when a student needs help managing their emotions during a tough day. Having these items available in my office creates a safe and supportive environment where students can learn to self-regulate and focus more fully on their work. I didn't anticipate the opportunities it created for me to meet students in my school. It has provided a means for me to break misconceptions about me. They see that I'm not mean, I'm firm. I'm not against them, I am holding them accountable. \r\n\r\nAs we continue building a culture of support and care in our classroom, these tools are helping students develop emotional awareness and self-advocacy. They are learning when they need a break, when they need fuel, and how to ask for help—skills that are vital for academic and life success. Thank you for making this possible.
