With over 20 athletes on our teams, having nutritious snacks available before and after practices and meets has been a wonderful addition to our program. Many of our athletes come straight from a full day of school to practice, and we have very long evenings when we travel to competitions. These snacks help ensure that our runners have something to fuel their bodies, replenish their energy, and keep them going. The students were excited to see the variety of snacks available, and they have certainly appreciated having them throughout the season!\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts of coaching cross country is watching our athletes grow, not just as runners, but as teammates and individuals. Our program includes students with a wide range of abilities and experience levels, but they all share the same need for proper nutrition and encouragement. Having these snacks readily available helps remove one more barrier for our athletes, especially those who may not always have access to healthy snacks at home. It has also provided opportunities to talk about the importance of nutrition, hydration, and taking care of their bodies. Whether they are preparing for a challenging workout, celebrating a personal best, or simply enjoying time together after a meet, these snacks have become a welcome part of our team experience.\r\n\r\nAs our season comes to a close, our athletes are working toward their individual goals while supporting one another along the way. We are incredibly grateful to the generous donors who helped make this project possible. Your kindness has made a difference for our athletes in a very practical and meaningful way. You have helped us provide more than just snacks, you have helped us create an environment where every athlete feels supported, valued, and ready to give their best. Many of our athletes come directly from school into long practices or meets that last several hours, and these resources help ensure they have something quick to eat to help fuel their bodies before competing. One moment that really stood out was during our first-ever Falcon Flash Invitational. Several athletes had multiple events spread throughout the day, and being able to provide snacks between races helped keep their energy up and allowed them to continue competing at a high level. Beyond the physical benefits, it also created a sense of care and community for our athletes. They know people believe in them and want to support their success.\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited and incredibly grateful. Many immediately started organizing the snacks and talking about which items would be best before races or after events. Some of our athletes quietly shared how much it helps to have food available after school before practice because they don't have time to go home first. The team really viewed the donation as something special, and it boosted morale knowing that people outside of our small community care about their goals and well-being.\r\n\r\nAs our season continues, our athletes are working toward conference championships, regionals, and end-of-season personal goals. We are emphasizing goal setting, perseverance, teamwork, and healthy habits that support both athletics and academics. Our students are also learning how proper nutrition and fueling their bodies impacts performance and recovery, helping them connect science and wellness to real-life experiences. Beyond competition, we continue to focus on building positive team culture, leadership, and sportsmanship so our students grow not only as athletes, but as people.","fullyFundedDate":1772721899555,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-up-the-varsitymiddle-school-track/10095692/","projectTitle":"Fuel Up the Varsity/Middle School Track & Field Teams!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fatura","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1815141_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721618713913","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1815141"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71932","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":224,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":82,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":87.7,"schoolId":71932,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pentwater School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pentwater School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/pentwater-public-schools/pentwater-school/71932"}
