This year the students have choices on the days they are in an independent group between journals, books and puzzles. The children overwhelmingly choose extra time in their journals on the days they are independent during small group times. \r\nThe binders have all held up well. They have enough room for us to add all of their self-portraits, work samples and book responses to their portfolios at the end of the year. Having the paper that is already hole punched has saved us time when we are preparing journals. This is the first year we have had reinforcement labels and it has helped us to keep all of the children's papers in their binders/portfolios. All of the colored pencils have been helpful for the children in their drawings and in the writing center. Having larger pencils are helpful, especially at the beginning of the year as the children are still working on our grasp pattern.
